Last year, CWS Hygiene decided to break new ground and started preparation for a new chapter with the construction of a state of the art facility in Roscommon, Ireland. Strategically located in the centre of Ireland to efficiently service the whole country. Planning began in 2022 with the necessary approvals secured by the end of 2023. Ground was finally broken on 23 January 2024, marking a significant milestone.

The new laundry, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, will emphasise sustainability and resource efficiency. With state-of-the-art machinery, CWS Hygiene in Ireland will significantly increase its operational capacity. The current capacity of c.12,000 mats per week will be doubled to 25,000 mats by the end of the year. For cotton towels, the current capacity of 2,500 per week will be increased to 5,000. The introduction of new and more efficient machinery will enable us to cover more ground per shift, resulting in improved service quality and cleaning standards and improve the carbon footprint.

Hygiene hub for Ireland

Beyond the laundry, all Roscommon based Hygiene staff will relocate, including warehouse, customer service and management. This consolidation will create a centralised hygiene hub for Ireland, housing approximately 50 people. CWS Hygiene Ireland employs around 85 colleagues, of which nearly 40 are dedicated to sales and service.

Ann Marie Kelly, Managing Director of HY Ireland, expressed, "This project not only signifies a significant development for CWS Hygiene but also underscores our clear commitment to improving capabilities and service quality. I am more than proud of all the hard work and dedication that our colleagues have already put in to make this happen. I look forward to a fantastic time in our new Hygiene Hub and can't wait to welcome everyone to our new site at the end of the year."
