Fantastic news from CWS Netherlands: CWS Netherlands has been recognised in the CO2 Performance Ladder with level 5, the highest level of the Performance Ladder. Level 5 shows that CWS makes the CO2 emissions in the supply chain and business sector transparent and has developed initiatives to reduce CO2. “Over the past 30 years, we have monitored and reported our emissions to the local government, in addition to drawing up and monitoring reduction measures every three years. The performance ladder is a tool that ensures our efforts are also recognised externally”, says Thalia van Mensvoort, Regional CWS QESH Manager Benelux-Ireland-Sweden.
The CO2 Performance Ladder is an important incentive for an increasing number of companies in various sectors to operate sustainably. Each certified organisation is audited annually by an independent and accredited certifying body, which tests the results and awards the level achieved. “Our stakeholders increasingly expect us as an organisation to be able to provide demonstrable evidence of how we do business sustainably, with independent verification becoming increasingly important. The CO2 Performance Ladder is tested on actual operations with physical visits to our organisation, so not just on documentation as with other labels or ratings” adds Thalia van Mensvoort.
It has been one of CWS’ priorities to drive climate action forward. Therefore, we have set ambitious goals for the near future with many sustainability projects and initiatives to provide a positive impact on the environment and the communities we, as a company, serve. To have achieved the highest level of the CO2 Performance Ladder in the Netherlands is yet another example beside the CSR Performance ladder (ISO 26000) and Ecovadis Gold Rating that CWS’ sustainability journey is being recognised externally. It also shows that CWS has been undertaking sustainable initiatives across the whole organisation for years. There are further benefits such as the positioning of the CWS brand and CWS as a sustainable organisation with sustainable products and services.
